High-Risk Pregnancy
Pre-eclampsia, Gestational Diabetes, Twins, Thyroid Disease, & Chronic Medical Issues
At Arrowhead Women’s Center, we understand that some pregnancies may be of higher risk than others. With our team of experienced physicians, you can rest assured that your health during pregnancy is of the highest importance to us.
A high-risk pregnancy is classified as a pregnancy where a woman or her baby may have an increased chance of health problems. While this label may sound worrisome, it is just a way for our team of Arrowhead Women’s Center physicians to ensure that a patient receives the necessary attention during pregnancy.
Types of High-Risk Pregnancy
While there are many types of high-risk pregnancies, some of the most common types of higher risk pregnancy include:
A woman has had issues in the past with pregnancy including preterm labor and preeclampsia.
A woman who is younger than 17 or older than 35 years old.
Multiple pregnancies (pregnant with more than one baby).
A woman who has had more than three miscarriages.
A woman who has certain infections, such as HIV or hepatitis C.
A woman with specific health problems, such as diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, epilepsy, asthmas, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, sickle cell disease, or kidney disease.
During a consultation, one of your Arrowhead Women’s Center Physicians will discuss your pregnancy and evaluate if you are a candidate for a high-risk pregnancy.
